Four-step guide

How to Play Pokemon Wordle

Choose the shared Daily Challenge or start an unlimited Free Play round, then identify the hidden species in no more than six unique guesses. Every submitted Pokémon turns into a set of letter, type and Pokédex clues that narrows the answer.

  1. Pick a mode.Daily Challenge gives every player the same UTC puzzle. Free Play lets you choose a generation or type pool and start another round whenever you like.
  2. Enter a real Pokémon.Start typing a species name, select a matching default form and submit it. Duplicate guesses are rejected without using an attempt.
  3. Read all three clue groups.Name letters show exact, present or absent. Type 1 and Type 2 keep their positions. Arrows show whether the hidden Generation, Dex number, BST, height or weight is higher or lower.
  4. Deduce the answer in six tries.Combine new clues with earlier rows. After three guesses, you may reveal the exact remaining-candidate list or keep playing without assistance.

Need a reference while you play? Check a species in Know Your Pokémon or review matchups in the Pokémon Type Chart. Opening either guide does not reveal today’s answer.

How the Daily Pokemon Wordle Puzzle Works

The Daily Challenge uses the UTC calendar date and a fixed National Dex pool from #0001 through #1025. Everyone receives the same answer for that UTC day. The target is derived again whenever the page loads, so the game does not need to upload your progress or download a private answer from an account.

The countdown ends at 00:00 UTC. Your local date may change earlier or later, which is why the exact reset time can differ from midnight where you live.

Use Type Clues in Pokemon Wordle

Type 1 and Type 2 are separate clues. An exact result means the type occupies the same slot on the hidden Pokémon. “Other slot” means the type exists but the order is reversed. A gray absent result means the target has neither slot with that type.

For a single-type guess, the Type 2 clue reads None. It is exact only when the target is also single-type; otherwise the hidden Pokémon has a second type.

Pokemon Wordle Name Clues and Repeated Letters

Name letters use a two-pass comparison. Exact-position letters are consumed first, then remaining target letters may mark a guessed letter as present elsewhere. This prevents one repeated guessed letter from receiving two yellow clues when the hidden name contains that letter only once.

Spaces, apostrophes, punctuation and hyphens are removed for the letter comparison, while the recognizable display name remains visible above the clue row.

How Higher and Lower Pokémon Clues Work

An upward arrow means the hidden Pokémon has a higher Generation, National Dex number, base-stat total, height or weight than your guess. A downward arrow means the target value is lower. This direction stays consistent across every numeric clue.

Height and weight use the local Pokédex values shown in metres and kilograms. Forms are excluded from the daily answer pool, so comparisons use each species’ default form.

Use the Pokemon Wordle Candidate Analyzer

After each guess, the page can recompute which species would produce every clue state you have seen. The count is always available; a candidate list becomes available after three guesses. It does not rank likely answers or inspect other players—it simply applies the same clue function to the local Pokédex.

Ignoring the candidate drawer keeps the classic difficulty. Opening it turns the puzzle into a transparent deduction exercise and can help verify that a confusing clue is internally consistent.

Private Stats and Spoiler-Free Sharing

Played games, wins, streaks and guess distribution are stored locally and update only once for each completed Daily Challenge. Free Play has no effect on those statistics. Clearing browser storage or resetting stats removes that history.

The share result uses puzzle identity and clue symbols. It deliberately omits the answer and every guessed Pokémon name, so copying the result does not spoil the daily challenge.

Practical deduction

Pokemon Wordle Strategy for Better Opening Guesses

A useful opening guess is not necessarily a favorite or a very strong Pokémon. It is a species that can divide the Pokédex into noticeably different groups. Look for a recognizable name with varied letters, two common types, a middle-generation debut and stats near the center of the overall range.

Start with broad information

A dual-type Pokémon tests two ordered type slots at once. A medium National Dex number and moderate BST also leave room for both higher and lower arrows, which is usually more informative than beginning at an extreme.

Let arrows describe the target

Read every arrow from the hidden Pokémon’s point of view. If Weight shows ↑ Higher, the answer is heavier than your guess. Keeping that direction consistent prevents accidental reversals between rows.

Change one uncertainty at a time

When several clues are already exact, choose the next guess to test what remains uncertain instead of discarding good information. A species with one confirmed type and a different second type can resolve an “Other slot” clue efficiently.

The candidate count is a check on your reasoning, not a requirement. Leave the list closed for a harder daily game, or open it after three guesses when you want a transparent explanation of which Pokémon still satisfy every clue.

Pokemon Wordle FAQ

How many tries are allowed?

Six unique guesses. Repeated Pokémon are rejected and do not consume an attempt. Give Up becomes available after the third valid guess.

What is different between Daily Challenge and Free Play?

Daily Challenge has one UTC answer, restores progress after refresh and updates local statistics once. Free Play creates unlimited random answers from the generation and type pool you choose.

Why does a type say “Other slot”?

The hidden Pokémon has that type, but in the opposite primary or secondary position. Type order is part of the clue.

Can a candidate count increase?

No under normal play. Each new clue is added to the prior constraints, so the matching set can only stay the same size or become smaller.

Does the share result reveal any names?

No. It includes the puzzle number, win or loss state, clue symbols and attempt count only.

Is this the same game as Pokedle?

No. This is an independent Pokémon guessing game with its own daily answer and Free Play mode. It uses name-letter clues, ordered type slots, Generation, National Dex, BST, height and weight directions, plus an optional exact candidate analyzer. It is not affiliated with Pokedle.
